It is with a deep sense of pride that I share news that I have been chosen to serve as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services.
I am proud of the work this government has done to create a more inclusive country for our Indigenous communities and I am honoured to serve Minister Patty Hajdu and the Prime Minister in building a better future for all Canadians, especially those who have been left out in the past.
And now I’ve been given a chance to help build stronger communities on a national stage. Working with the minister, I’ll rely on years of experience at the municipal and regional levels of government to help make life better for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.
We will work to give our Indigenous people the foundations they need to enjoy an equality of opportunity every Canadian citizen deserves. We need to continue to do the work of righting historical and current wrongs. Together, we will close the gaps that far too many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities still face today and build a better and more equitable future.
As always, I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can for the residents of Niagara Centre and I welcome the opportunity to take on this additional responsibility in service to the citizens of Canada.
