Today, Canada’s job numbers for March 2022 were released, showing Canada’s labour market gaining 73,000 jobs in March 2022, bringing our unemployment rate to 5.3% - the lowest since 1976. Thanks to the hard work of Canadians, we are creating jobs, growing the middle class and our economy, and ensuring long-term prosperity as we emerge from COVID-19 and build a better future for everyone.
These employment gains bring our national unemployment rate to 5.3% - the lowest since 1976, when this data was first collected.
Thanks to the hard work and determination of Canadians across the country, we are continuing to have one of the strongest economic recoveries on record. Today’s job numbers are a clear indication that Canada is well positioned to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
With Budget 2022, our government is investing in workers, small businesses, our supply chain, and more.
Our government will continue working hard to support Canadian workers and businesses from coast to coast to coast.
