Government of Canada supporting summer celebrations in Niagara
June 30, 2022

Vance Badawey, Member of Parliament for Niagara Centre, has announced $163,590 in funding for celebrations across Niagara as part of ‘Celebrate Canada Days 2022’ on behalf of Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Quebec Lieutenant.

Celebrate Canada features days of national significance such as National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21); Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day: a celebration of Canadian Francophonie and the Fête nationale du Québec (June 24), Canadian Multiculturalism Day (June 27) and Canada Day (July 1).

This year, the Government of Canada has funded nearly 1,500 events that will take place from coast to coast to coast throughout the summer, including 11 in Niagara. Across the country, there will be many opportunities to pay tribute to the people and places that make Canada beautiful and to celebrate the ethnic, linguistic, cultural and regional diversity that helps make Canada truly inclusive and open to the world.

Quotes

“More than just summer celebrations, these days are opportunities to learn from each other and to reflect on our values, our past and our future as a society. I invite you, wherever you are in Canada, to reconnect with your loved ones and your community, and to participate in activities in your region. Let us take advantage of these opportunities to strengthen the ties that bind us together on the road to reconciliation and a better future.” —Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Quebec Lieutenant

“So many of us have patiently waited for the day when we could come outside and be with our friends and families once again and I’m so pleased to see Canadians enjoying all that this country has to offer this summer. This funding will help ensure our community organizations and municipalities can hold the kind of celebrations we’ve earned during the past two years. — Vance Badawey, Member of Parliament, Niagara Centre
