Supporting Canadian workers and employers is one of our most important jobs so it was with great pleasure that I was able to show Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan our outstanding facilities at Niagara College’s Welland campus Tuesday.

Turning dreams into reality by providing students with the knowledge they need to become the workforce of the future, the college's Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre is playing a crucial role in giving young people a path to prosperity in the traditional and new and developing green economy.

The Niagara College School of Trades labs go beyond the conventional classroom, boasting technologically advanced machining, construction, automotive, electrical, mechanical and welding labs. State-of-the-art technology and up-to-date equipment provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on training and experience before pursuing rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

• gain the practical skills needed to play a key role in Ontario’s rapidly growing construction industry;
• develop the electrical skills needed for workforce entry and/or a foundation for further study;
• learn how to operate precision metal cutting and grinding machines or use a variety of advanced welding techniques; or
