Stairway to Queenston Heights

The slope where General Isaac Brock mounted his attack on American forces at Queenston Heights during the War of 1812 is going to be a little easier to climb as the Canadian government is partnering with the Niagara Parks to design new stairs from the Village of Queenston to the base of Brock’s monument.
It was my pleasure to announce $50,000 towards the project at a ceremony last week at the park, joined by my fellow MP Chris Bittle, Niagara Parks Chair APRIL JEFFS, parks staff and commission members. Not only is this an historic site, but also an important link in Niagara’s trail system, featuring some of the most magnificent views of the Niagara River we have.
The Government of Canada is investing $50,000 through the Active Transportation Fund. The Niagara Parks Commission is contributing $25,000.
Our parks and public lands aren’t just for tourists, but are an important part of our lives for those who call Niagara home. We are incredibly fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas of the country and I’m very happy my government continues to offer support towards maintaining access to our rich heritage and beauty.
